SESSION IV – SUPPLY CHAIN
Traceability in the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain
SALA DELL’ARCO
15:15-18:15
The drug supply chain consists of a series of steps necessary to make the drug available to patients after it has been produced, packaged, and approved. Patients, whose central role must be considered indisputable, have been prescribed the drug due to a particular condition or to help improve their quality of life and, therefore, must be able to count on a product that arrives in such a way that its quality characteristics can be maintained in compliance with storage parameters in the various warehouses where it is stored and in transit, as well as during transfers from one warehouse to another, with the guarantee that it is genuine and not counterfeit or the result of illegal sale following previous thefts. This means tracking the drug using the technological tools that allow this to be done as they become available. Therefore, the session will address the issue of real traceability, evaluate the current legal provisions, and gather ideas for the use of tools such as AI to make activities related to the drug supply chain more effective, faster, and safer.
